John Traube

As co-owner and president of Traube Tents and Structures, John Traube is leading the company into its seventh decade of providing clients in the Midwest with quality tenting and temporary storage solutions. Since joining the company full time in 1993, John has helped the company translate its unsurpassed reputation in the special event tent sector into new business applications. Under John’s guidance, Traube has recently expanded its portfolio to offer temporary storage buildings, enclosures and shelters to commercial and industrial clients. The venture provides clients with a cost-efficient, scalable and portable alternative to permanent buildings.
In addition to guiding new business efforts, John also provides overall business direction and project management, with client service, sales, marketing and financial functions reporting to him. Along with co-owner and vice president Steve Traube, John oversees a staff of more than 20 tenured installation and project management experts, known throughout the greater St. Louis MO region for their professionalism, dependability and trouble-shooting expertise.
Prior to assuming his present role, John worked his way through the ranks of the company – learning the family business from the ground up and gaining experience in all aspects of the company’s operations.
Through John’s commitment to innovation, business development and project management, Traube has earned local, regional and national recognition. Most recently, the St. Louis Business Journal named Traube Tents and Structures as one of the fastest-growing companies in the St. Louis MO region. Traube has also garnered numerous honors, including multiple awards from the International Special Event Society (ISES) and the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) as well as a John Boyle Award for Outstanding Craftsmanship in Tent Rental.
John graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in business management. A local business and industry leader, John serves as a member of the YMCA Advisory Board for Monroe County; the Play Commission for the City of Columbia, Ill.; and The Alternative Board (TAB), a small business advisory group. Traube Tents and Structures has memberships with the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, ISES and IFAI. In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and open-water swimming.

Steve Traube

As co-owner and vice president of Traube Tents and Structures, Steve Traube has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in the tenting and temporary structure business. Under Steve’s direction, Traube has been successful in leveraging its special event tenting expertise into industrial storage and shelter solutions that are more cost-efficient and modular than permanent buildings and warehouses.
Learning from the ground up, Steve began his career in the Traube family business as a tent installer. Progressing swiftly through the ranks, Steve took on the role of foreman in 1994, overseeing crews responsible for transforming and building enclosures for some of the most complex and sophisticated events in the greater St. Louis region.
In 1996, Steve joined his brother John as a co-owner of the company. Serving as vice president, Steve oversees strategic direction of the business, along with client service, sales, marketing and financial functions.
Steve’s commitment to anticipating and delivering above and beyond client expectations has enabled Traube to earn regional and national recognition. In 2009, the St. Louis Business Journal named Traube Tents and Structures as one of the fastest-growing companies in the St. Louis region. Traube has also garnered numerous industrial awards, including multiple awards from the International Special Event Society (ISES) and the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) as well as a John Boyle Award for Outstanding Craftsmanship in Tent Rental.
A local business and industry leader, Steve is also an active member of Vistage, a business leader advisory group, and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. The company also retains membership in the ISES and the IFAI. Steve studied at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., and received a bachelor’s degree in Education from Saint Louis University. In his spare time, Steve enjoys snowboarding, hunting and hockey.
